The wind blew gently across the mountains. General-Inquisitor Fyyar sighed as he looked out over the landscape, the sky slowly turning a muddy orange as the sun rose over Terra.
The new Sicarius headquarters had been finished, built in the side of a mountain most of the facility was underground. It had built close to the other Sicarius/Offico Facility, which had not been damaged.
Despite the relief in finally being able to have their own facility again something was troubling him. During the transfer they had stumbled upon some old files.
Files that had belonged to Vladimir Tyrannis.
Files that should have been deleted in the purge.
Files that in all honesty Fyyar did not want to read.
But he had done. He now pondered over there meaning and, of course, why they had not been deleted.
He ran the facts through his mind, again.
He had arrived after the purge and as such had not seen any of the files that had been deleted; some one else had overseen such matters.
Why?
The files should not exist but they did.
He had read them and they spoke of something that shook Fyyar to his core.
Omega.
If, if it was true.
It could have been the mindless ramblings of a tainted man.
But what if it wasn’t?
What could he do? And more importantly, what should he do?
He had considered speaking to Schneider. But he did not know what part Schneider had played in this and of course, if Schneider would return alive.
He turned and looked at the unassuming grey block that was the only part of the Ordos Sicarius facility that appeared above the ground. The only more secure place in the Imperium was the Imperial Palace itself. The facility could withstand a direct hit from an orbital strike, the layers of security were near unbreakable and he had some of the finest warriors and assassins in the Imperium under his command. Yet still he felt uneasy.
"Always remember, no fortress is impregnable, in defence or offence."
