Inquisitor Monev's lab was seemingly empty. The entrance was dirty and smashed, and beyond the doors was the lab, once clean and perfect, now ruined completely. Tubes and broken glass pods lined the walls and tables lay smashed on the ground. There was nobody here. But there was something here.
Down beyond the twisting staircase, now adorned with symbols and glyphs of ruinous powers, lies a cavern. It was once Monev's training ground for his beast army, but since his demise, the beasts had done something else. They were all white, slightly furred, and had long proboscises, with tongues lolling out. Their head was a goat's, and their bodya human. The chamber had changed. The beasts had dug. The chamber was now huge, covering the space the size of a large city. strange buildings were constructed by the beasts as homes, and arms factories, built from the rock around them. Monev had given them rudimentary intelligence in his first experiments with them, resulting in them being as smart as, or smarter than humans. Under the guidane of their god and leader, they were enhanced.
The stone buildings were in an unnorganised sprawl, consisting of few windows and a chimney from which a fire burned. Larger buildings lay at the centre of the city, perpetually smoking. They were factories. Inside, the beasts were working. the miners had struck iron ore, and this was a blast furnace, blasting the iron from the ore. They were making weapons, it appeared, copying the design set by Magos Brecht when he equipt the army with lasguns. Lasguns were easy to make for the intelligent beasts, but bolt guns given to the leaders were more difficult. Reearchers worked hard, trying to crack the secret.
Another factory lay opposite that one, near the centre also. The beasts were trying to make something, an idea trying to be made real. The trojans in the city had told them about something, and had inspired them to create their own. Designs for it were being drawn up, but were kept secret. They were warmachines, tanks for the army. They were pondering over different designs, and how to power it. The main contenders were the electrical engine, the combustion engine, and the expensive, but extremely effective plasma engine.
In the centre of the city lay a strange thing indeed. It was a set of very steadily climbing steps, leading to a platform. Atop the platform was a statue of an eye, and next to the eye, chained and bound tightly, was a figure. It was like a man, but had ravaged skin. Around the platform, the beasts kneeled, worshipping the thing, chanting blasphemous words and incantations. With each incantation, the beast throbbed, and pulsed at the skin, like a person inside was beating on the skin to come out. After several minutes, a large beast walked over, a curved sword in hand. He yelled something loudly, and hacked downward with the sword, smashing the chain apart. A scream. A flash. the beast exploded backward, as incredible force was unleashed. The stone buildings stood firm, but the beasts were flung away. They were merely bruised, however, and soon looked up to see their master, fully manifested. "I AM DHASHYISH-LETHKHAOS'EKPHAK! YOU HAVE UNLEASHED ME, AND I AM YOUR MASTER!" Screamed the gigantic figure. Smoke cleared, and the form appeared. A daemon with three arms stood, holding a sword, a clawed hand and crab like pincer. It stood almost to the top of the mighty chamber, its legs bird like, its mane flaming. Great horns protruded form its head, and migty flames licked around its mouth as it bared its teeth. "YOU SERVE ME! I SHALL GUIDE YOU! I HAVE LAIN DORMANT FOR FORTY TWO MILLENIA, AND FINALLY I AM FREE! I AM MOON LORD OF THE WARP STORM, AND I SHALL LEAD YOU TO VICTORY, IN THE NAME OF TZEENTCH!" THe thing laughed, echoeing in every part of the mind, which lay prevoiusly undisturbed. THe moon lord has awakened.
